Ima Solitary Aztec Cat (Gatto) is a dun/gray. He has a star & 3 socks (will be 14.5-15 hands & 1100+ lbs mature). You can view his pedigree on www.allbreedpedigree.com just type in “Lonely Little Linx,” his full brother. His pedigree is full of the oldies: Smokey Duster Too, Star Duster, Three Bars, Poco Bueno, Two Eyed Jack, Jaguar, Steel Bars, Harlan, Hank H, Gold Beaver…. His sire is here on this site and has AQHA ROMs(points) in halter, reining and heeling/roping. He is just short a couple of halter Grands for his AQHA Championship.
Gatto’s dam, Lilly, was ridden just a year and proved to be very cowy, level headed and sure-footed. She was placed in our broodmare band and will be the last I would think of selling… because she is by my first stallion and out of my favorite mare. She also out produces herself every year! Lilly’s full siblings have won quite a few halter, roping & reining futurities, in fact her sister qualified for AQHA World in reining & working cow with Dan Roeser. Lilly’s foals are quick, graceful and very smart; they are very light in the mouth and easy to train. One just finished Grand in Youth Reining at the Idaho State Fair, another is a top heeling horse in Utah, another is being ridden by a 14 yr old in 4-H, one is owned by a 70 year old rancher in Oregon and another was doing great in reining training. In fact most of her foals (and siblings) are still owned by the first buyers… they don’t go up for resale.
Gatto will be turned out on our mountain pasture this summer & fall. He is UTD on all vet needs. My reining trainer would love to have Gatto join his barn. Everyone wants to know the horses faults but I find it is hard to judge my own horses. Conformation wise he is built like a cow or cutting horse. He seems more laid back than he really is… remember this line is very smart. He has a cute head and short back. Ask any questions and I will answer them… we believe in integrity and stand behind the horses we raise/sell!
Gatto’s one grandsire (Smokeys Gray) is a AQHA Champion with multiple Superior awards; a great producer of versatile and all-around horses. The other grandsire (Canyon Creek Rojo) was a great using-ranch horse. He was NFQHA Versatility Winner and always placed in the top 1/3 the year we did AQHA shows. But he was best known for his awesome disposition and kind nature. I could ride him out in the broodmare band without a bridle or saddle, perform reining maneuvers and side pass up to the fence to climb off. You could lead a pack string off of him, trailer him with mares and geldings and put children on him to ride around on. He was a very unique stallion, but when I was offered $13,000 for my $500 bargain, we sold him. The two photos below were taken in April 2008. $1500
